Gaetano Lorandi was born in Thiene (Vicenza - Italy) in 1960. He took a music degree in Organ and Organ Composing under the teaching of Renzo Buja at "F. E. Dall'Abaco" State Conservatory in Verona. He attended master classes under Jean Langlais, Ton Koopman and Emilia Fadini.

He started studying Harmony with Natalino Tacchetti and Antonio Zanon and then he took a Composing degree with Wolfango Dalla Vecchia and Giovanni Bonato at “C. Pollini” State Conservatory in Padua. He has also attended the Electronic Music Course at the same Conservatory in Padua.

His compositions range from orchestra music to chamber and choir music.

He was awarded prizes at the following music contests: Sacred Music National Contest (Vicenza 1987), Composing International Contest “Pescara-Pescara” (1997) , Composing Contest-European Regional Forum of Veneto (1998), “G. Spontini” Sacred Music Composing International Contest  of Maiolati-Ancona (2001), “Piergiorgio Righele” Choir Composing Contest in Malo-Vicenza (2002), “F. Evangelisti” Composing Contest in Rome (2002), “A. Manoni” Composing Contest in Senigallia-Ancona (2003), Ibla Grand Prize (New York 2004).

His works have been performed by Roberto Fabbriciani at the “Sentieri di Musica Sacra nella Marca d’Ancona” Festival (2002), by Stuttgart Neue Vocalsolisten at    Nuova Consonanza 39th Festival (Rome 2002), by Mario Ciferri at “Città di Senigallia” International Organ Festival (2003).

His collaboration with Conductor Filippo Furlan and his Choir “Libera Cantoria Pisani” in Lonigo (Vicenza) has proved culturally lively and creative. As the above mentioned choir is one of the most versatile of the Italian choir scene and it is particularly keen on contemporary production,  Gaetano Lorandi was commissioned a composition for a cappella choir on a text by Giordano Bruno, which was first performed in the cities of Skàlhot and Reykiavik, Iceland, in 2003.

Another choir composition has been commissioned to him to be performed during next year’s tour in Argentina (2005).

Some of his works have been published by Chiola Music Press (Pescara), Edizioni Carrara (Bergamo), Bèrben Edizioni Musicali (Ancona).

He has been appointed regular player of the organs of the church of “San Domenico” in Villaverla since 1973 and of  Vicenza’s Cathedral since 1986.
