VINES Sonata AWARD

IBLA Foundation VINES AWARD Recipient Genssly Ediansyah Syams was born in Surabaya, Indonesia in 1983.
She started studying piano at the age of four and received her teaching license from the Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Jawa Timur at the age of twelve.
At the age of nine, she won First Prize in the National Yamaha Piano Competition in Jakarta. Five years later, she was the First Prize winner in the Festival de Piano Musique Francaise
and in 2000 she won the Piano Competition held by the Indonesian Composers Association (ICA) where she received the best interpretation award on Indonesian original piece.
Two years later she received the best interpretation award on modern piece from ICA.
Consecutively, Ms. Genssly passed with Distinctions for her eighth grade of the ABRSM Music Examination, Advance Certificate, Diploma from the ABRSM and
LMus A from the Australian Music Examination Board. Recently, she received Licentiate of Royal School of Music.
In 2001, Genssly was invited to perform at the Cipta Award winner ceremony at Graha Bakti Budaya, TIM, Jakarta. The following year, she was chosen to perform at the ABRSM
National High Achievers Concert in the event of the ABRSM Silver Jubilee Celebration in Jakarta.
In 2004 she won IBLA Grand Prize (Vines Award) in Italy. Consequently last April, Genssly was invited to perform at the IBLA Winners Concert in Carnegie Hall,
New York University Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo Hall, and Yamaha Hall in the U. S.
Now she receives coaching from Iswargia Sudarno. Among those with whom she has studied are Ananda Sukarlan, Henoch Kristianto, Maestro Marcello Abbado,
Dr. Salvatore Moltisanti and Gunter Reinhold. With her sister, Brigifine Ediansyah Syams, Ms. Genssly maintains a private piano teaching studio (Brigifine & Genssly Music House).
