Carla Giudici, pianist and International renown pedagogist

Born in Cremona, Carla Giudici graduated very young from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan as a student of Carlo Vidusso. She continued her studies at the “Conservatoire de Musique” in Geneva under Nikita Magaloff, Louis Hiltbrand, and Ilonka Deckers.

Carla Giudici also attended advanced courses at the “Internationale Sommer Akademie des Mozarteum” in Salzburg and Interpretation Courses held by Afred Cortot at the Lausanne Conservatory. She gave recitals and played with orchestras in Italy, abroad and on Radio Switzerland. She studied composition with Bruno Bettinelli.

Carla Giudici is the author of several teaching aid material published by Edizioni Curci and Edizioni Carish of Milan (attached list). Carla Giudici started her teaching career at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan continuing at the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome. She is currently on the faculty of the Superiors Courses at “Ars Academy” International Academy of Music in Rome.

Carla Giudici has been a member of the national Jury examinations in several Italian Music Conservatories (Milano, Roma, Firenze, Napoli, Cagliari, L”Aquila, Pescara), and for the S. Cecilia Academy postgraduate studies. She has also served as Jury member for International scholarships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to National piano competitions:

Taranto, Cagliari, Lecce, La Spezia, Sestri Levante, Pesaro (Gabicce), Catania, Acireale, Enna, Lamezia Terme, Foggia (Rodi Garganico), Otsuni, Saturnia Crosseto, Cosenza, and Internationals Piano Competitions:

Carla Giudici has been invited every year to the Festival Pro Mundo Uno in Orvieto for the “Academia Respighi” as well as teaching annual courses for the Accademia Respighi in Rome and the professionals Courses for CEE. (European Courses of formation and improvement for professional pianist). She is also a faculty member at the international Festival of classical music “Tivoli classica.”

Carla Giudici is regularly invited to present Master classes at the following International Courses: “Etruria” in Palazzo Altieri of Oriolo, at the Piano International courses of the “Opus Artis” of Bruxelles, at the Conservatory of Rotterdam, at the 12th “Festival International de Musica” in Torroella de Mongri and in Jerona (Spain), at the International Piano Festival of Venice, at the Union of Bulgarian Musicians of Sofia, in Jerona, at the School of Music “Pedro Carrero” in Barcellona (Spain), Griburgo: Center Fenix of music (Switzerland), the Beethoven Society in London and the summer courses of “Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot”, Paris.

Carla Giudici has regularly been invited by the University of North Carolina’ “School of the Arts” (USA) to hold master classes about the Piano Technique books that she has published; she was also invited by St. Paul University in Chicago, New York University, Manhattan School, Julliard School and United Nations “Dag Kammerskjold” Auditorium in New York, La Fayette University of New Orleans, Hartford University, Miami New World School of Arts, Honolulu University and in Paris and Bruxells for the “International Musical Record”.

Carla Giudici’s lectures on the “Physical and psychological approach of the Piano Technique” at the “Pedagogy World Conference” in Saint Louis, U.S.A. in October 1999, and again in 2002 at the “World Piano Conference” in Portoroz, Slovenia on the subject on “Different technical approaches in different countries” have been well received.

In 1991 she was invited to hold extended courses in Japan at the “Musashino Music Academy” in Tokyo, where she returned in 1994. She gave master classes at Kunitachi University in Tokyo, in Sapporo University in Hokkaido, and at the Piano Teachers Association in Morioka, Japan. She was also a professor for the academic year 1998-99 at the Showa University in Japan.

In 2001 Carla Giudici returned at the Musashino Academy where she presented advanced piano courses and a class on harpsichord music focusing on the Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti.

In addition, she offered lectures for the Kobe University and the Osaka University.

Upon invitation by the Piano Music Association in Iwate Prefecture she presented master classes in Morioka, Ichinoseki and Kamaici in June of 2001.

In 2002 Carla Giudici was one of the top four nominee in Italy for the best teacher prize “Tasto d’oro”(The golden key). She serves as the Italian Vice President of “Epta Italy” ­European Piano Teacher Association) and has been an advisor to several concert associations, President and member of the National Board of the “Jeunesses Musicales. In 1984-86 Carla Giudici served as the President of Soroptimist International club of Rome and in connection with the European Music Year (1984), she organized the “Campo Musicale” in connection to the European Federation and the “Campus Internazionale” held at the Caetani Castle in Sermoneta.

The City of Cremona has given her official recognition for her activities in Italy and abroad. In 1987 Carla Giudici received the “Adelaide Ristori” award in the Protomoteca at the Campidoglio, an award granted to women who have distinguished themselves in the artistic field. In 1888 she was appointed member of the “International Burckard Akademie” and in June 1992 in the “Salone del Cinquecento” of Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze, she was officially appointed Academica by the International Academy “Le Muse”. In 2002, in Rome, Carla Giudici received the “Fiore di Roccia” award (for journalism and show-business), VIII edition. Since 2001 she is member of the Rotary Club Roma. In 2002, The President of Italy bestowed upon her the Order of Merit and the title of “Commendatore al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”
